All The Dogs Alabama

We love our volunteers!

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our rescue and we are so grateful for every person that gives of their time and talent to make our rescue the best it can be!

We’d like to introduce you to a few that make sure our dogs are loved while in our care.

Hi!  My name is Natalie.  I grew up with a love of animals. Growing up we always had dogs and sometimes random animals.

My husband is allergic to all fur so my girls and I wanted to find something to do where we could spend time with dogs. We started volunteering at Shelby Humane which is where we met Crystal.

We have been volunteering with All the Dogs since the beginning and love taking the dogs for boarding breakouts and helping with the events.

Our favorite dogs right now are Hogan (who was just adopted!) and Butch (on trial adoption!). They are both great in the house and love to snuggle.

I get fulfillment watching the dogs flourish outside of the shelter. I love knowing that the dogs are all in a safe environment and taken well care of!

Hi. My name is Robert and I am a physician practicing in the Birmingham area for the past 36 years. Dogs have always been welcomed in my household. I had thoroughbreds when my children were young, but now have pit mixes at home. Honestly they make wonderful companions and appreciate being accepted as family.

Last summer I saw neighborhood website postings about ATD and became curious about their mission with dog rescue. The ATD website attracted me to visit one of their events.

I love spending weekends at my lake house and with grown kids, usually I went solo. ATD encourages outings for the resident pups and I decided to offer bust-out weekend trips for a deserving fur baby. The experience really turned into a routine and many have accompanied me on weekend trips. It's amazing to watch their progress adapting to home life.  Most have been adopted in time and my favorite lad to find his family was Pico.

My most recent weekend guest was Jenny (who was just adopted together with Hogan; they are best friends!) who has been an incredibly lass. She came from a local shelter with heartworms and has made a fantastic recovery.

Hi, I’m Alyte. I work as an account manager and do residential real estate at LAH Sothebys. I love being outside, hiking/walking and enjoying nature. I also like to meditate, work on self-development, read, travel, do crafts, paint and draw, learn about new cultures, try new foods and spend time with my friends and family, which includes 2 daughters, ages 12 and 14.

I have always loved all animals - big and small - and have always dreamed of having my own rescue. I had my first rescue pitbull, Maya, when I was 26 years old and she definitely sparked my passion for pitbulls.

I found out about ATD when Elizabeth helped me with my Bailey. I love being able to combine my love for hiking and the outdoors to take the pups on a boarding breakout. I feel like I have a lot of experience with walking my own large dogs and am able to take out some of the bigger dogs that others may shy away from.

My favorite dog so far has been Sprite. I was so excited for him to have his own family, but I definitely spent several days crying and missing him. I got very much attached to him. He reminded me a lot of one of my pups who passed away.

Right now, my favorite ATD dog is Tyler. Anyone who has ever met Tyler would have to agree. He is irresistible! I have had 3 white pitties, so I am definitely partial…but I am also very much looking forward to meeting Rhea and Wilbur.

For anyone looking to volunteer, there is always room to help in one way or another. It’s easy to give a few hours of your time to go to an event, share posts on social media or take a pup out for a boarding breakout. I often use my volunteer time to connect with my friends and family and go on a hike together while also helping a little buddy in need. It feels so good to be able to give them a little break and I feel like what I get out of it is so much more….they fill me with so much joy and I look forward to seeing them all the time.

Thank you to all our volunteers.  It does take a village to make sure all the dogs are loved, fed, cared for and socialized.  They make a difference to every dog that walks through our doors.

If you’d like to honor the work they do, we always have a need for supplies to support the dogs in our care. The links below will take you to our “Wish Lists” of things we need to run the rescue.  Items are delivered directly to our rescue when you check out.

Thank you for your support and for sharing our dogs with your friends and families.

If you’d like to be a part of helping our kennel dogs thrive, please consider donating your time to host a dog in your home for a few days (or as a foster!), a day out at a park through our Boarding Breakout Program or helping at one of our events.  Even a day away from the kennels makes a huge difference to our dogs.  They get one-on-one time and a chance to experience life outside a kennel - and a chance to be seen by someone that might just decide they are the dog they’ve been looking for to love…forever.
